JANIE+SEAN | Austin Engagement

Janie & Sean are getting married in just a few weeks, and I cannot wait for their wedding in May! The couple was so amazing when it came to planning the engagement shoot. They thought of so many little details, which made my job incredibly easy. We were able to shoot at the historic Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas. Have you heard that it was haunted? I was just a bit jumpy during the shoot; thank goodness we shot in the afternoon. If it had been a night shoot, I doubt I would have been able to last! We also took a stroll through the lovely Botanical Gardens where I was able to capture some scenic shots of the blissful couple in their own little world. Lastly, Janie and Sean pulled out the secret weapon: BALLOONS!!! I love balloon shoots!! Engagement sessions are extra special when the couple is attentive and has a vision of what they are going for. Janie and Sean did just that! Stay tuned for their wedding photos to be released early summer. It’s going to be a hot one!!

MONI+LONG Engagement Photography | Austin, Texas

Moni and Long’s engagement session was exceptionally special and sweet. These two have been together for a very long time… six plus years and counting. Long owns his own business fixing automobiles, and Moni is just about to finish school. They are two very kind and caring people. I can’t tell you how many times I had car trouble and Long was able to help me out. He is such a hard worker and it’s easy to see how much they both love one another. Long takes very good care of Moni, and the team literally wanted to cry during the shoot. Their love shines through the photographs, and I can’t wait to see them get married this August!

Moni hired our team of makeup, wardrobe, hair, and creative directing for her shoot! Needless to say, the photos are incredible and one of my favorite engagement sessions to date. Congratulations MONI+LONG! I’m so happy for you both!

NYFW 2012 | Backstage at Nautica Fall/Winter Presentation

New York Fashion Week was of those experiences that changed my entire perspective on life and the way I should live it.

On a whim, I booked a flight to attend New York Fashion Week for the second time. I had the pleasure of photographing backstage at the Nautica show again. In my six-day trip to New York I made connections with photographers, photographed Amy and Nick of music band Karmin backstage at SNL, and was published in Rolling Stone. The trip opened my eyes to the opportunities in front of me. New York has so offer, and the greatest thing is that now that I’ve had just a taste of my dream, I want more. I don’t know where this journey called life is going to take me but I believe it’s in New York City. I can’t wait to live my dream.

LINDA + LONG | Austin Engagement Session

Wow! It’s been quite a while since I’ve updated my blog. You know what that means. I’ve been very busy getting shoots lined up for my clients!! It’s only been a month and a half into the new year, and I cannot explain how very excited I am for what’s to come. Not only have I been working on wedding and engagement shoots, I am getting published in local magazines in the area. How exciting!!!! Keep an eye out for I will be updating my website with those tear sheets soon!

Linda+Long

These two are the most amazing couple. Linda lives in Houston, Texas and Long currently lives in Hawaii enrolled the US Navy. They do not get to see each other very often but Long was able to visit for just a few days during new years. Linda and I discussed many concepts for the shoot so when Long arrived, he did not have to worry about a thing! Linda works in retail so she was able to style the entire shoot herself! I was dying for her brand new Christian Louboutins! I could tell how happy they were to just be in each other’s presence. Long didn’t complain one bit when we told him to put socks on or change into black shoes instead of brown. What a great guy!! It’s the smallest things like that that show how perfect they are for each other. Long could not stop talking about how lucky he was that Linda takes such good care of him. My heart was melting the entire shoot.

We started our session with getting hair done by the phenomenal Liz Nevin (http://www.liznevin.com). Not only did Liz style both Linda and Long’s hair, she was onset for the shoot making sure the hair looked perfect for every shot. I mean, how great is it to have a personal hair stylist on set for your engagement shoot?! We started our casual/cozy look at the Long Center. For the second look, the couple booked a room at The W Hotel Austin and had the incredible makeup artist Laura Martinez (http://www.bylauramartinez.com) come on set to do an evening look on Linda. Check out that glow and shine on her face, and not to mention the seductive and sexy red lip!! I have the most amazing team, and I thank my lucky stars for them every day. For the last look, Linda wanted to take a few shots in the downtown streets of Austin. Just a few photos of Long and her shopping, having a good time, and simply enjoying each other’s company. I just loved the way the entire shoot turned out! They seriously look like they belong in VOGUE for engaged couples. Haha.

Linda + Long, thank you so much for letting me shoot your engagement session!! I had the best time, and I am so looking forward to your wedding this April!! You guys are AWESOME!!! A special thank you to my good friend Mary Nguyen for referring this amazing couple to me and for being on set for the shoot. I am so thankful for the support of friends like you.

Mychelle + Giang Vintage Engagement Shoot

Mychelle & Giang were married the weekend after Thanksgiving in Dallas, Texas. I was so happy to shoot their engagement session in October. Have you ever wondered what makes engagement shoots so unique and beautiful? Like many things in life, preparation and planning lead to great results. There is a lot to think about: locations, wardrobe, hair, makeup, and most importantly your story. Engagement sessions are all about your story as a couple. Mychelle and Giang loved vintage so we decided to go with with a classic yet modern romantic look. Rose Tran did such an amazing job on wardrobe with Valentino shoes, pearled and jeweled accessories, vintage suitcases, etc. This engagement session reminded me of The Notebook. I am so in love with it. It is my favorite session to date.

Maureen & Noelle | Mother & Daughter Shoot

The Inglenook Decor is a website featuring the latest home, modern vintage, and urban cottage decor. Maureen is the owner and founder of this sweet little space on the internet. I was so excited when I was contacted to do a photo shoot with Maureen and her sweet daughter Noelle! Maureen was so beautiful and easy to photograph. She was a natural in front of the camera. We had the best time that day. It was so great to have a group of girls together with nothing but positive happy energy, all day! After this shoot, I realized how awesome family photo shoots are. Years from now, when Noelle goes off to college or gets married, Maureen will look back at these photos and always remember the day she and her daughter got glammed up for a photo shoot in the park.

Thank you to my favorite ladies in the world for making this shoot so amazing. I love my glam-squad team!!!!

Twin Girls Editorial Shoot

A few months ago I shot an editorial photo shoot with the styling by the phenomenal Miss. Brandy Joy Smith. Brandy is one of the hardest working, go getter, type-A personality stylists I have ever met. She always goes after what she wants, and it truly shows through her styling ability. Needless to say, I was incredibly lucky to have her style my shoot. We shot an editorial for a local magazine with the sweetest little girls: Tallulah & Tigerlily. The girls got hair and makeup done while I shot behind the scenes photos. The twins had so much fun that day and said it felt like their birthday. I plan to do another soon with them soon and feel like a career in modeling may be in their future!

NY Fashion Week: Nautica Spring 2012 Collection

The most important week and a half of the entire year: NEW YORK FASHION WEEK.

I was fortunate enough to make it to New York City for Fashion Week this year!! It was so amazing, I can’t even tell you!! Not only did I assist on a fashion look book photo shoot while I was there, I also had backstage access at the Nautica show! There were thirty male models present, and boy were they smokin’!! The show was held on the rooftop of the Empire Hotel. Everyone did such an amazing job at the show. Special thanks to the most amazing make up artist in the entire world, and my very dear friend, Clarissa Luna for getting me backstage! Great job on hair by the phenomenal Allen Ruiz, creative director of Aveda. Of course I cannot forget about amazing assistants: Laura Martinez, Liz Nevin, and Rose Tran. What an experience! The team was so awesome we got called back for Spring Fashion week in February. Unbelievable.

Joyce + YC | Austin Wedding

Joyce and YC were married on a Monday afternoon at a small quaint chapel just on the outskirts of Austin. Chapel Dulcinea was old-fashioned and charming. Only the couple’s closest family and friends were invited to the sweet intimate ceremony. I adored Joyce’s simple wedding dress paired with a black bow and her velvet black heels. I had so much fun directing the two of them. It almost seemed like YC was more into posing than Joyce!

The “LOVE” chain was handmade by my good friend Mary. Her handwriting is impeccable, and I can’t wait to show you more of her artistic creations. Stay tuned.

Marlene + John | Austin Wedding

I was so excited to second shoot Marlene and John’s wedding! This was the third wedding I’d ever shot, and I must say, I am beginning to fall in love with wedding photography. It is such a great feeling to be a part of the happiest day of someone’s life. There’s so much happy energy around all contained in one day! I love all the details the bride and groom come up with to make their day special and unique. It makes me so happy to be able to document someone’s special day for them. Just the thought of the couple looking back at the photos fifty years down the line and reliving each moment of makes my job a thousand times more worth doing. I am so blessed to be passionate about what I do, and not to mention all the wedding cake I will be able to eat!

This bridal shoot was so so amazing thanks to the amazing team I worked with! Each time I plan a shoot with these girls, they really pull through. The first two dresses were designed by my incredibly talented friend, and apparel designer extraordinare, Thao Nguyen. The dresses have a modern yet vintage feel. I am so blessed to have such talented friends who work so well together. The pictures turned out just the way I had hoped!

Kathy + Kenny | Austin Engagement

Kathy and Kenny are two of my good friends from college. We met fall semester of 2004 when Kathy and Kenny first began dating. Fast forward five years later, they are still happily in love and getting married this June! Kathy is a first grade teacher in Houston, and Kenny is graduating from medical school in May to be a radioligist. I was more than ecstatic when they asked me to take their engagement photos for them. And of course we had to go to the great University of Texas campus where it all began! We had a wonderful time, and I’m so unbelievably happy for these two. You both have a wonderful and bright future ahead of you. Congratulations! Can’t wait for the wedding!

Sherri + Michelle | Senior Portraits

Sherri and Michelle are high school seniors living in Houston, Texas graduating the class of 2011. They are cousins and also really great friends. I was so happy to be shooting their senior portraits! They were incredibly fun to work with, and did I mention extremely fashionable?! They put their own outfits together, and I think they did a fabulous job! I loved that they were so easy-going and didn’t mind doing the shoot together. Photo shoots are always fun when there’s more than one model. We had the best time together. Thank you girls! You guys are both amazing and incredibly beautiful!!

Hong+Hung Engagement

This was my first engagement shoot. Hong and Hung are to be married in less than a month and hadn’t had engagement pictures taken. I, of course, couldn’t wait to take these for them. They are the sweetest couple, and I wish them all the best in the future.

November has been an incredibly busy month! I recently got a gig interning for the amazing TQ Photo, and I have been learning so much!! Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky.

November was a busy month for not only me but Simple Heart Creations as well. Oanh and Mary planned a girls weekend out in Kingsland, Texas for Mary’s birthday. They turned it into a Simple Heart Creations event! I photographed it as if it were an engagement shoot. We started out with brunch on the lake and ended with a pot luck. Not to mention the s’mores package wrapped like candy. Looking at the pictures, there’s nothing that these girls can’t come up with! They are known to add that little something extra to every event! Mary’s calligraphy skills are mind-blowing! They’re not bad cooks either. Enjoy!

The blogging world today isn’t what it used to be; that’s for sure! Almost everyone has a blog these days! In fact, not having a blog, means not having your own little space on the internet. I encourage everyone to start a blog if you do not already have one. After starting my own photography blog, I was able to reach out to more people than my friends on Facebook. I don’t feel limited to only a few friends, I feel like I can reach the entire globe. What an amazing feeling.

These three girls are fashion bloggers in Austin. They each have their own blog and have high traffic on their sites. You all should definitely check them out! We did a shoot in downtown Austin on a rainy afternoon. It was a great day, the rain brought a little bit of silliness out of all of us.

I was so excited that they offered to let me take pictures for their start-up company. They are extremely talented and can focus the details when putting an event together. Mai, a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, will soon be graduating to attend the pharmacy school of her choice. Kloee’s Lady Bug Shoot

Kloee Tran is a very smart two and a half-year old. She turned two in April, and her mother threw her a “Lady Bug” birthday party. However, her mother was not able to get pictures taken for Kloee because she told me Kloee would scream and cry in the photo studio. I thought that Kloee would be much better off taking photos at home where she was comfortable. Kloee was hard to catch at times but still a sweetheart on the inside!
